The Thermostat Wars: A Comedy of Errors

Chapter 1: The Battle Begins

It was a sweltering summer day in Rochester, and the thermostat war had begun. The first casualty? My sanity.

You see, my wife and I have been engaged in a never-ending battle over the ideal temperature for our home. She prefers it to be a balmy 68 degrees, while I’m perfectly content with a brisk 72. It’s a small difference, but one that has caused more arguments than the entire Star Wars prequel trilogy.

Chapter 2: The Tactical Maneuvers

Our tactics are varied, but equally devious. She’ll wait until I leave for work, then swiftly adjust the thermostat to her preferred setting. I, in turn, will sneak downstairs in the middle of the night, shivering in my robe, to crank up the heat.

One particularly sneaky move involved HVAC service technicians. We had them over for routine maintenance, and as they were packing up their tools, I casually asked if they could “just tweak the thermostat a bit.” Needless to say, my wife wasn’t thrilled when she discovered the new, higher setting.

Chapter 3: The Truce (Sort Of)

Eventually, we realized that this war was going nowhere fast. So, we decided to call a truce – well, more of a temporary ceasefire. We agreed to set the thermostat at a neutral 70 degrees, and alternate who gets to adjust it each week.

  1. Monday through Sunday: Her turn.
  2. The following week: My turn.

Of course, this hasn’t stopped the occasional skirmish. Just last week, I caught her adjusting the thermostat during “my” week. When confronted, she claimed it was an emergency – apparently, a slight chill warranted AC repair in her mind.

So, while the heating installation and air conditioner repair professionals at High Performance Heating & Air Conditioning can handle all your HVAC needs, they can’t solve the age-old battle of the thermostat. That’s a war that will rage on, with no end in sight.
